Drafting and pattern making

pattern making is the process of creating a blueprint for a garment.  It is a technical drawing or drafting of a garment, which is used to cut the fabric and assemble the garment.  Patterns are usually made of paper, but they can also be made of muslin or other fabrics. There are two main methods of pattern making:  flat pattern making and draping.  Flat pattern making is the most common method of pattern making.  It involves taking measurements of the body and then drafting the pattern on paper.  The pattern is then cut out and used to cut the fabric.   Draping is a more hands-on method of pattern-making.  It involves draping fabric over a dress form or mannequin to create the desired shape.  The fabric is then pinned in place and the pattern is traced onto the fabric.   Once the pattern is created, it can be used to cut the fabric and assemble the garment.  The pattern is also used to determine the amount of fabric neede...
